Naudhiz ᚾ

naudhizNaudhiz; need, constraint, distress

Icelandic rune poem: Nauð er Þýjar þrá, ok þungr kostr, ok vássamlig verk. Constraint is the grief of the bond-maid, and state of oppression, and toilsome work.

Naudhiz is the second of the three menacing runes in a sequence, all linked to the three Norns, the weavers of fates. It speaks of hard times, either happening or coming. These may involve emotional or physical constraint, or doubt, or an inability to act. There is no inversion; the positives and negatives are inseperable.

In Runes of Battle, the second of the Rune Song trilogy, naudhiz is combined with other runes into a bind rune taufr (talisman) to shape a destiny away from constraint.

For introductions to other runes, there’s a pull-down menu under the ‘Norse Runes’ tab. More details about the Rune Song epic fantasy trilogy via my ‘books’ pages or on Amazon UK or Amazon.com. All books are published by Second Sky / Hachette and are available in print, ebook, and audiobook formats
