Ansuz ᚨ
Ansuz: god
Icelandic rune poem: Óss er algingautr, ok ásgarðs jöfurr, ok valhallar vísi
The god is aged Gautr, and prince of Ásgarðr, and lord of Vallhalla.
Ansuz is a powerful yet enigmatic rune, linked to magic, poetry, and a numinous awareness, like that gained by Odhinn himself when he hung on the tree of Yggdrasil to gain the understanding of the runes. It is the rune of wisdom, clairvoyance, and rune magic, especially the sung chants of galdr. Visually, its stave has been described as the cloak of Odhinn blowing in the wind.
Adelais encounters the full power of this rune in the final book of the Rune Song series, Blood of Wolves.
